Hakim Rebel Poet Coriano is a Borikua educator, activist, musician, songwriter, sound editor, producer, and published poet, born in Caguas, Puerto Rico and partly raised in Long Island, NY. Rebel Poet organizes with the “Maroon Party For Liberation,” around youth empowerment work, political education, and political prisoner advocacy, along with other Borikua-based collectives in the N.Y.C who are actively engaged in the liberation of Boriken; a.k.a Puerto Rico. Rebel is also a member of the “Títere Poets,” a collective of poets, writers, and artists who create to dismantle; toxic masculinity, and systemic racism and to uplift the identity of Borikua, and Diaspora-Rican. His work is informed by Pan-African Unity, as well as his Afro- Caribbean, indigenous, and southeast Asian roots; as he channels his ancestors through song, words, and rhythm to honor them.
