“Women in Creative Rebellion presented by Robleswrites Productions, Inc. and founded by Peggy Robles-Alvarado is an extension of what began in 2013 as an annual poetry and networking event in the Bronx to celebrate the creativity of intergenerational women of color.

After curating several original and thought-provoking women-centered literary events that provided a platform for emerging and established writers throughout New York City, Women in Creative Rebellion is expanding beyond its Bronx borders with -La Libreta-.

-La Libreta- is an online poetry journal that publishes poetry, audio performances, and artwork by emerging and established writers and artists of color who identify as women from the Bronx and beyond.”

Peggy Robles-Alvarado is a Dominican and Puerto Rican Jerome Hill Foundation Fellow in Literature, a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee, and an Atticus Review Poetry Contest winner. This BRIO award winner earned fellowships from CantoMundo, Desert Nights, The Frost Place, VONA, and NALAC.  With advanced degrees in education and an MFA in Performance Studies, this three-time International Latino Book Award winner authored Conversations With My Skin, and Homage To The Warrior Women. Through Robleswrites Productions Inc, she created Lalibreta.online, The Abuela Stories Project and this summer she will be debuting No Small Voices: On This Bridge- a project  that partners senior and contemporary writers to create collaborative poetry that will be displayed as an outdoor poetic gallery walk in the Bronx and beyond. She’s been featured on HBO Habla Women, The Dodge Poetry Festival, Lincoln Center, The Smithsonian Institute and her poetry appears in Poets.org, Tribes.org, 92Y.org, and in several anthologies, including Arriving at a Shoreline (great weather for MEDIA, 2022).
