The 2023 New York City Poetry Festival

  • Governors Island New York (map)

Join The Poetry Society of New York at Colonels Row on sunny Governors Island Saturday July 29 and Sunday July 30 at the free-to-attend, 12th Annual New York City Poetry Festival. Enjoy local vendors, delicious food, and iconic headliners at the largest free gathering of the poetry community in the country. A short and easy ferry ride from Manhattan or Brooklyn.

We will be at our book table throughout the festival (with copies of our latest anthology!) and will be on the Algonquin stage at 1:30 pm on the Saturday.

Our featured readers are all contributors to A Shape Produced by a Curve: billy cancel, Ngoma Hill, Dara Kalima, and Nicca Ray.

Hosted by David Lawton

Every summer, The New York City Poetry Festival invites poetry organizations and collectives of all shapes and sizes to bring their unique formats, aesthetics, and personalities to the festival grounds, which are ringed with a collection of beautiful Victorian houses and tucked beneath the wide, green canopies of dozens of century old trees. By uniting the largest community of poets in the country and offering a unique setting for literary activity, the New York City Poetry Festival electrifies arts and literature and brings poetry to new light in the public eye.
