These workshops will be generative workshops that happen on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm, each with a fabulous guest facilitator to take your craft to a new and unexpected place. Hosted by Thomas Fucaloro.

June’s guest facilitator is Thaddeus Rutkowski.

Registration is required. Limited to 12 participants.

Description - USE YOUR EXPERIENCE TO WRITE NEW WORK

In this workshop, participants will write short poems or prose pieces based on their memories and experience. We’ll work from prompts designed to generate new material. The prompts will offer guidelines but will be wide open to interpretation. Poetry or prose formats are acceptable. After we write for a short time, we’ll share what we wrote and comment on it. Often, these exercises grow into more finished pieces after the workshop.

Thaddeus Rutkowski is a graduate of Cornell University and Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of eight books, most recently Safe Colors, a novel in short fiction. He is also the author of two poetry collections, including Tricks of Light (great weather for MEDIA). His novel Haywire won the Asian American Writers’ Workshop’s members’ choice award. He teaches at Medgar Evers College and Columbia University and received a fiction writing fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
