We are excited to bring you our series “great weather for Workshops” at the amazing Living Room Gallery in New York City. These workshops will be generative workshops that happen each month at 7:00 pm, each with a fabulous guest facilitator to take your craft to a new and unexpected place. Hosted by Thomas Fucaloro.

Workshop Description: “Burn The Heavy”

Fire is a powerful force for cleansing and transformation. What heaviness do you carry and what would remain if you set it ablaze? In this generative writing workshop led by award-winning poet, playwright, performer, and educator Peggy Robles-Alvarado, participants will explore their interior landscapes using a poetic form created by torrin a. greathouse called “Burning Haibuns” where a prose poem is burned down until a haiku emerges.

Peggy Robles-Alvarado is a Jerome Hill Foundation Fellow in Literature, a Candela Playwrights fellow, and a Bronx Cultural Visions Grant recipient. She is a fellow of  The Dramatic Question Theater and was selected to be part of  The 2023 Playground Experiment’s Faces of America Monologue Festival. Peggy is a BRIO award winner who earned poetry fellowships from CantoMundo, Frost Place, and The Ashbery Home School. This three-time International Latino Book Award winner authored Conversations With My Skin, and Homage To The Warrior Women.  Peggy’s work has been featured in The Solfest Theater Festival, Dodge Poetry Festival, HBO Habla Women, Lincoln Center, and The Smithsonian. Peggy’s poetry has been highly anthologized and appears in The Breakbeat Poets Vol. 4: LatiNext, among other notable publications.
