Spoken Word Sundays at the Parkside Lounge - Energized for a New Direction

Big news for great weather for MEDIA...

After much soul-searching, we feel the Sunday reading series, while having shared so much with the poetry community, is ready to evolve into something more focused and so we will hold our last open mic on January 7, 2024.

It's been such a wonderful journey with our friends at the Parkside Lounge for over ten fabulous years. We are so truly grateful for the management and bar staff’s unflinching support and generosity throughout, and we feel very sad having to reach the decision. And of course, we thank all the wonderful open mic readers and features that have made the Sunday reading series one of the most enduring and exciting events on the calendar.

On the flip side, however, everyone is feeling energized as we concentrate on quarterly and one-off events, plus the publishing side of great weather. So, it’s not “goodbye,” but more of a change of emphasis and we will keep sharing the love with the Parkside as our home venue.

The reading scheduled for December 17 will be the penultimate in the series, and then we will be back after the holidays for an all open mic finale party on Sunday January 7, at the special time of 4:00pm – 7:00pm. This will be a spectacular celebration of the series, its hosts, and all our wonderful features. Be sure to save the date, look out for more details, and come join us!!!
