Maryam Alikhani is an Assistant Professor of English at the County College of Morris in New Jersey. She is an award-winning scholar, poet, and translator with a Ph.D. in English Education from Teachers College Columbia University and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the City College of New York. Her multilingual poems have appeared in Versos Estivales, Multilingual Anthology of the Americas Poetry Festival of New York, Foreign Literary Journal, Esque Mag, The Poetry of Yoga, Poetry in Performance, Promethean, as well as several periodicals in Tehran, Iran.
Ileana Nachescu grew up in socialist Romania and came of age during
the uprising that ended state socialism and Ceausescu’s dictatorship
in her country. She came to the United States as an international
graduate student and completed a doctorate in women’s studies. Her
essays have appeared or are forthcoming in the Boston Review, Michigan
Quarterly Review, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. She is currently at work
on a full-length collection, Memoirs of a Socialist Childhood.
