Malcolm White is the Executive Director and co-founder of Penn and Perry Inc. The Staten Island chapter of (CCD) Community Capacity Development, A nationwide collective of organizations that represent the Human Justice Network. In addition, Mr. White is the Program Supervisor at The Central Family Life Center’s Anti-Gun Violence Initiative True 2 Life. True 2 Life’s mission is to stop senseless gun violence and improve the quality of life of at-risk youth in the North Shore of Staten Island, New York. True 2 life is a part of New York City Crisis Management System (CMS), Malcolm supervises a staff of 40 credible messengers in Mariners Harbor. The Crisis Management System has revolutionized the perception of violence as well as reduced violence by promoting a public health and science-based approach. True 2 Life treats violence as a learned behavior that can be prevented by utilizing disease control methods. True 2 Life believes by changing the ideology of the neighborhoods our at risk youth derive from we can then deter violence.
In the 10 years with True 2 Life, Malcolm has received awards from various New York City and State organizations that include NAACP, Congressman Max Rose’s Office, Staten Island Heritage Organization, Councilwoman Debi Rose's Office, Governor Andrew Cuomo's Office, Mayor Bill De Blasio and many more. He has accumulated various certifications including Basic Mediation Training, Motivational Interviewing, Narcan Training, Advanced Mediation Training, Basic Counseling, and Skills Coaching.
Mr. White started his journey with True 2 Life as a Violence Interrupter. He was responsible for canvassing designated target areas, recruiting high-risk individuals to become participants, and interrupting conflicts. Because of his persistence and vigor, he was elevated to Hospital Responder in 2 and a half years.
Malcolm White’s goal is to promote peace and prevent retaliation by working with his staff, his community, victims of gun violence as well as their families. Through his leadership skills, initiative, and dedication, True 2 Life has accumulated over 200 hospital responses and a 99% no-retaliation rate.
