Born in Queens NY and currently residing in Chesapeake VA, Ed Toney began writing poetry through workshops with Louis Reyes Rivera and at Cave Canem. Ed has featured at numerous venues, such as the Calypso Muse, Glitter Pomegranate, Blue Door Gallery and The New York Poetry Festival with Soul Sisters Revue, and read at rallies for Mumia and Eric Garner, Black Lives Matter speakout forums and a benefit for Michael Brown. Publishing credits include African Voices 20th Anniversary magazine, the chapbook Of Fire of Iron (The Hot Poets Collective), the Brooklyn Poets anthology At the Crossroads… The One Breath Rising Anthology of Poetry and Prose as well as the great weather for MEDIA anthology The Careless Embrace of the Boneshaker. Ed is currently editing his first poetry manuscript entitled, Nicks in the Tongue.
